Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the heart of Waco, TX, Dave's Hot Chicken brings an electrifying twist to classic chicken dining with its bold flavors and halal-certified offerings. This vibrant chicken restaurant specializes in crafting mouthwatering chicken tenders and sliders that boast a perfectly juicy texture paired with a kick of spice that’s precisely calibrated to please heat lovers at every level.

Step inside Dave's and you’ll immediately notice the warm, inviting atmosphere where friendly service complements the flavorful food. From the moment you walk in, the staff’s genuine enthusiasm is clear—Juan, for example, is known for taking the time to explain the menu and share his own favorite picks, making your first visit feel like a personal experience. Comfortable seating and pristine restrooms enhance the dining ambiance, creating a welcoming space whether you're grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a casual meal with friends.

The menu is a treasure trove for spice adventurers and comfort food seekers alike. Popular items include their signature sliders—crispy, juicy, and served with perfectly seasoned fries that consistently draw rave reviews for their addictive, golden crunch. If you’re looking to cool down your palate, the strawberry shake topped with Fruity Pebbles is a playful indulgence, delightfully creamy with a nostalgic crunch, while a variety of classic soft drinks and slushes like the zesty strawberry lemonade provide refreshing balance to the fiery chicken.

For those who like to dial up the heat, Dave’s offers spice levels ranging from mild to the daringly intense Reaper—though be warned, the Reaper is a scorching challenge that even seasoned spice fans find formidable. Despite the fiery heat, the robust flavor profile of the chicken remains intact, showcasing a careful seasoning blend that highlights the quality of the meat.

While some guests feel the pricing leans toward the higher end, the quality of ingredients combined with a vibrant, customer-focused experience justifies the value. The layout provides ample parking, quick service, and a clean eating space, making each visit smooth and enjoyable. Whether it’s a casual lunch or a flavorful dinner fix, Dave’s Hot Chicken delivers a dynamic, satisfying meal worth returning for time and again.

I came midday returning from a work trip. Iwrote this review solely off service. Juan helped us out & took the time to explain the menu as well as his personal experience as this was our first time here. He helped me carry the food to my table as my hands were full. As for our food, I ordered 2 sliders with a side of fries, and a strawberry shake topped with fruit pebbles. The fries were amazing, but the cheese wasn’t it. It’s more of a cheese wiz. If you like that kind of thing, then this is no different. I personally feel it subtracts from the fry. The sliders have a good sweet spice balance(I got medium heat) & a great flavor. When I’m next in town I’ll definitely up the spice level to hot. The shake was mid imo(strawberry flavor only), but my partner loved it. It does elevate with the fruity pebbles to about a 7. My partner ordered 2 tenders & Mac. The Mac & cheese tastes like Church’s & the tender was extremely juicy & crispy. This went perfectly with the included Dave’s sauce. Cons: Milkshake was a little pricey Overall: 8.5/10

Always love going to Dave's hot chicken. The chicken tenders taste really juicy and the spice level is exactly how we want it. Clean restrooms, comfortable seating area and plenty of parking available.

We spent about $50. Food was good overall, but pricing feels high—$9.99 per set and $12+ for two pieces of chicken, both without drinks. We tried hot, medium, and reaper. The reaper was way too spicy, even for people who like heat, and it took away from the flavor. The other levels were much better. Portions were fine, but including a drink with the meal would make it a better value.

The food is always really good. But the slushes are amazing! I got the strawberry lemonade and it is very sour! The workers were super sweet!

I really hate that I liked this place so much, but it’s good chicken. I heard the story on a podcast and happened to drive by one, so we stopped in. The sliders are the size of a regular chicken sandwich, the tenders are the size of a breast fillet and the flavor slaps. Chicken was moist and crispy with the prefect spice level. (I got the second to hottest) Spice was perfectly spicy, my kids got the medium which was still tasty. The pickles are perfectly crispy/sour as they compliment the chicken bite!! Fries are dusted with some of the spice powder and every bite was crispy with flavor. The slaw was a classic slaw, just your ordinary slaw; slap it in a sandwich and the perfect compliment!!! 9/10 would recommend! Try it on for size if you like fried chicken tenders all ways! I would love some bone in chicken but this was good!

Got Dave's #3 with reaper heat. Surprised I had to sign a waiver. It was hot. Chicken was fresh, the seasoning was hot, BUT, IT HAD FLAVOR!!!. So much better than other places claiming hot seasonings but there's no flavor. If you like Spicy Hot, go here. If pepper is your level of heat, hit up KFC.
